Our Mission and services
Pain is an unpleasant sensory experience that limits participation in daily activities negatively impacting work, play and sleep. Pain's emotional component can reduce our sense of well-being and our enjoyment of life. Our mission is to alleviate pain by treating dysfunction at its source.
At Seva, we apply systematic clinical orthopaedic tests using logic and critical thinking to determine the source of your condition. We then treat your pain at its source employing a range of physical therapies including: spinal manipulation; nerve, joint and muscle mobilization; joint stabilization; acupuncture; intramuscular stimulation (IMS); posture correction and ergonomic education; and body mechanics retraining for sport and other activity. Our satisfaction comes from helping you return to normal function and activity including sleep, work, sport and recreation, from music to dance to gardening. We want to help you live an active lifestyle unconstrained by pain.
Seva physiotherapy sports and acupuncture clinic has been in operation since 2004. It is located in the heart of Kitsilano, Vancouver and is owned and operated by Mina Kavia (physiotherapist and acupuncturist since 1992)
Our staff specialize in services including acupuncture, IMS, orthopaedic rehabilitation, sport injury, spinal and peripheral joint manipulation, manual therapy, TMJ dysfunction, vestibular rehabilitation, orthotics and massage. We treat all conditions involving physical dysfunction from acute to chronic, in clients of all ages. We treat muscle, joint and bone conditions and nerve conditions including neuropathies and radiculopathies. Clients with spinal pain, limb pain, fractures, ligament sprains, muscle strains, sports related injuries from climbing, running, mountaineering, hiking, skiing, golf, tennis, football, ultimate frisbee, rugby, rowing, music, dance and yoga have all been successfully rehabilitated at Seva.
Our clinic also offers services related to MVAs and WCB related injuries
Physiotherapy is evolving as new research informs our understanding of pain processes in the nervous system. In keeping with this knowledge, new physiotherapy treatments will continue to unfold. Our physiotherapists work hard to stay at the forefront of this evolution.
