  What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a medical health profession specializing in rehabilitation. It is part of the medical rehabilitation sciences program in Universities across Canada.

Physiotherapy aims to assess, diagnose and treat conditions related to pain and dysfunction due to disease and injury. It focuses on the neuromuscular and skeletal systems of the body.
  What types of conditions are amenable to physiotherapy?
Conditions ranging from acute to chronic pain, sports injuries, arthritis, spinal pain (neck, midback, lowback and sacro-iliac joints) and joint dysfunctions (TMJ, shoulder,elbow,wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle and foot). Inflammatory pathologies (tendonitis, bursitis), post traumatic pain, headaches, pre and post partum pain and dysfunctions, incontinence, surgical rehabilitation, ligament sprains, muscle strains, neuropathies and fractures are some examples of the conditions physiotherapists treat in clinical practice.
  When should I see a physiotherapist?
If you are experiencing pain due to joints, muscles, nerves and /or bones,whether the condition is acute or chronic. When you cannot function physically within your normal capacity following acute injury or trauma. Pre and post joint or soft tissue surgery. For education regarding posture, ergonomic correction.

For specific exercises to assist you to return to your sport, activity or work physiotherapy plays an integral role
in this process.
  What should I expect from physiotherapy?
A thorough assessment and diagnosis of your condition with an in-depth understanding of the underlying cause of the dysfunction. Up-to-date evidence-based treatment which provide pain reduction and improvement in function.

Return to sport, activity or work to a comfortable degree. Education regarding proper exercises to maintain a pain-free level of function. Communication with your Doctor via initial and progress reports with your permission.

  Do I need a Doctor's referral?
Physiotherapy is a primary care intervention and no longer requires a physicians referral. We do however encourage referrals from the Doctor. Your physiotherapsit with your permission, will send an assessment report regarding your condition and treatment protocol to your Doctor. Seva physiotherapy feels that it is integral to inform your Doctor that you are undergoing physiotherapy for optimum care.
